Spotting Hongkong: DAY 2

maybe you would like to read this first - Spotting Hongkong: DAY 1

Getting off the bed for our second day of Hongkong adventure was a very tough deed to do first thing in the morning of October 22. With at most six hours of sleep and the pangs of cramped muscle, it seemed the hardest waking up I had ever done.

We had our breakfast at Tao Heung Seafood Hot Pot Restaurant in Carnarvon Road, few walks from Cosmic Guesthouse. The place had a more formal setting than those which we had tried before. Don't be fooled by the word Rice Roll (Chong Fan), we thought it was really served with rice grains. Stupid me for forgetting that I had already tried this dish in Binondo.

almost forgot to take a shot

"I was misunderstood! ='("   -Chong Fan or Rice Roll

forgot the taste but I know I liked it

four stacks of shrimp: satisfying! :)

 and our Hongkong discovery continues...

Fee: HKD 100 for a Roundtrip Standard Cable Car ride - two booths from the left of CTS booth in Hongkong International Airport (vs. HKD 125 in both CTS and Ngong Ping 360 ticket booths)
Going Here: Alight at MTR Tung Chung station. Behind the Citygate Outlet Mall is an escalator to Ngong Ping 360 Entrance
Verdict: Since I am an acrophobic, this 5.6 Km of slow cable car ride is a lot of burden for me though I had regrets of not availing the Crystal Cabin type on our return trip (trying to seem brave here). Nevertheless, the scenery of Lantau Island was very spectacular. You can found lots of souvenir stalls inside the Ngong Ping Village.  We even bought some of our pasalubong (take-home goodies) like Mochi (HKD 11/pack) here. we decided not to climb up to the Tian Tian Buddha, we preferred to conserve energy for our next destination.

it's a sin to make a mistake: I am younger than my sister by nine years

I do not intend to scare anyone, but a recent news had broken out regarding the Ngong Ping Cable Car mishap, wherein hundreds of passengers were stranded for 2 hours with a temperature of 3°C. Due to this incident, the said ride is currently undergoing maintenance which will last for 2 months. click here  for a detailed report.

Hongkong Disneyland
Fee: HKD 340 in CTS (vs. HKD 380 in Disneyland ticket booths)
Going Here: alight at MTR Sunny Bay station  and interchange trains to Disneyland Resort line
Verdict: Truly for children and children at heart. How I wish I was still a child when I got here. We really hurried up from Ngong Ping to catch the 3 PM Disney Characters Parade. I enjoyed the Buzz Lightyear and It's A Small World attraction. Disneyland was on a Halloween theme when we visited so there were lots of people in character, scaring everyone. We had dinner at Starliner Diner. Personal opinion: our most expensive meal; VERY expensive; not worth the price for fried chicken strips and fries. We waited for 8 PM to watch the fireworks exhibition but I did not get amazed anymore because I watched it over the internet (failed me!).

Before ending the day, we tried the ever famous dessert chain in Hongkong, Hui Lau Shan. I really loved their fruity iced desserts with glutinous rice balls that I just remembered to take a picture of it after it was all gone inside my tummy.

On our last day in Hongkong, we ate breakfast at Tsui Wah in Carnarvon Road.

my meal: tastes unique, worth for a try

After packing our things up, we checked out at Cosmic Guesthouse then we surrendered our Octopus Cards for a refund. From there, we walked to the China Ferry Terminal (with the help of the guesthouse owner and a map they provided) where we would be riding the ferry to the Casino Capital of Asia...Macau.

Booths inside the ferry terminal selling cheaper ferry tickets are legit. We bought ours at HKD 150 from its original price of HKD 160. There are other stores selling cheaper than HKD 150. Just confirm whether the ferry will take you to your preferred terminal: Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal or Taipa Terminal. In our case, we chose the one going to the Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal since our Hotel was located at Macau Peninsula.
